                                                                             Social Activities Ministry





Purpose/Goal of the Ministry

As a parish family, we strive to constantly promote a sense of family and community in our parish. This begins with all our liturgical celebrations and extends to our social activities.

St. Bart’s Social Activities Ministry is a ministry of hospitality, which helps to organize parish social activities. These activities provide occasions for socializing and celebrating together. They also provide opportunities for sharing our faith and supporting one another on our journey together.

Responsibilities of St. Bart’s Social Activities Ministry

  • Monthly Family Breakfast
  • Helps Food Pantry with monthly Ziti for the homeless
  • First Communion Breakfast
  • Confirmation Breakfast
  • Parish Appreciation Dinner
  • Coordinate the Parish Annual Block Party
  • Coordinate potluck dinners for parish parties like anniversaries, sendoff, welcome, parish celebration for graduates, etc 
  • Annual St. Bart’s International Cultural Celebration

(The Ministry shall invite the chairs or representatives from the four Commissions, the Stewardship Committee and a few individuals who represent the many faces of St. Bart’s to organize and execute this event annually)

  • Offer expertize to other parish groups who ask for their help


Social Activities Ministry Member Position Description

Reports to:         Social Activities Ministry Chairperson

                                       General Responsibilities of Every Ministry and Committee Member:

Specific Responsibilities of Social Activities Ministry Member

  • Be available to help the Ministry carry out its responsibilities
  • Help promote fellowship and a sense of family at all times, especially at parish events
  • Help the Ministry explore ways to promote a sense of family and community through social events for the entire parish.
  • Strive to become experienced food handler in the kitchen


Special Activities

  • Attend annual parish Ministry Recollection Day
  • Annual Parish Ministry Appreciation Dinner
  • Help with Annual Stewardship Fair


Meetings

  • As determined by the Ministry


Time Commitment

  • As needed to execute the activities of the Ministry

          Time for Planning
          Time to execute
          Time to help cleanup afterwards

Expected Length of Commitment

  • Minimum of 1 year


                              General Qualifications Required of Every Ministry and Committee Member:

Specific Qualifications Required

  • Ability to welcome and make parishioners and visitors feel welcome and at home
  • Ability to work with others
  • Ability to handle food in the kitchen


                                  Social Activities Ministry Chairperson Position Description

Reports to:         Report to Commission Co-Chairs

General Responsibilities of Every Ministry and Committee Chairperson and Coordinator:


Responsibilities of Social Activities Ministry Chairperson

  • Follow up on action items by checking on members to see that there is follow through
  • Delegate responsibilities to members
  • Solicits help from parishioners to help set up and break down after parties


Special Activities

  • Host an orientation for new ministers
  • Attend Annual parish Leadership training
  • Attend annual parish Ministry Recollection Day
  • Annual Parish Ministry Appreciation Dinner


Meetings

  • As needed to fulfill the goals the ministry and its various activities  


Additional Time Commitment

  • As needed to monitor and coordinate the activities of the ministry 


Expected Length of Commitment

  • 3 years, renewable for a second term.  


General Qualifications Required of Every Ministry and Committee Chairperson and Coordinator:

Specific Additional Qualifications Required

  • Ability to lead and coordinate people and events.
  • Ability to serve team members and parishioners
